In UniCMMS, an Asset is a specific, physical piece of equipment, machinery, or vehicle that your organization tracks, maintains, and repairs.
While a Facility represents a physical location or building (the “Where”), an Asset represents the actual maintainable equipment (the “What”).
tip: Example “Warehouse A” is a Facility. The “Toyota Forklift #04” operating inside it is an Asset.
1. Asset Types & Categories
Section titled “1. Asset Types & Categories”Assets are assigned customizable labels (e.g., HVAC, Conveyor, Fleet) to group similar equipment across different facilities. This allows administrators to quickly filter dashboards, run bulk reports, and compare the performance and costs of identical machines across the entire organization.
2. Asset Lifecycle & Status
Section titled “2. Asset Lifecycle & Status”Every asset maintains a live operational status that dictates its current availability.
- Active: Equipment is currently in use and fully operational.
- Inactive: Equipment is temporarily out of service (e.g., placed in long-term storage).
- On Hold: Equipment is locked or temporarily paused (e.g., broken-down waiting for spare parts).
- Retired: Equipment has reached the end of its usable life cycle and is permanently decommissioned.
3. Asset Hierarchies (Parent/Child)
Section titled “3. Asset Hierarchies (Parent/Child)”The system allows you to build multi-level structures:
- Parent Asset: The main system or unit.
- Child Asset (Sub-Asset): A maintainable component inside the main unit.
