How to Delete Inventory
Section titled “How to Delete Inventory”Deleting an Inventory record removes a specific storage entry for a part at a facility.
This is intended only for correcting data‑entry mistakes.
System Safeguard – Strict Deletion Rules
Section titled “System Safeguard – Strict Deletion Rules”UniCMMS will block deletion if the inventory record:
- Currently holds any stock, or
- Has historical activity (past Stock Operations or Work Order consumption) linked to it.
You can only delete an empty record with no history.
danger: Non‑reversible cleanup Deleting an inventory record permanently removes it from dashboards and reports.
Always double‑check that you are deleting the correct, unused record.
Step 1 – Access the Inventory List
Section titled “Step 1 – Access the Inventory List”- From the main sidebar, expand Parts & Supplies.
- Click Inventory.
Step 2 – Open the Action Menu
Section titled “Step 2 – Open the Action Menu”- Find the specific inventory row you want to remove.
- Click the More (⋯) icon in the far‑right column.
- Select Delete (highlighted in red with a trash‑can icon).
If the record still contains stock or history, UniCMMS will show a blocking error instead of deleting.
Step 3 – Confirm Deletion
Section titled “Step 3 – Confirm Deletion”If the record is eligible for deletion:
- A confirmation prompt appears.
- Verify the Part, Location, and bin details.
- Confirm the deletion.
The erroneous inventory record is permanently removed from the system.
