How to Delete a Part
Section titled “How to Delete a Part”Deleting a part permanently removes its master profile from UniCMMS.
To protect inventory and audit integrity, strict safeguards apply.
System Safeguard – Inventory Lock
Section titled “System Safeguard – Inventory Lock”UniCMMS will block deletion if:
- The part has an Available Quantity greater than zero, or
- The part is reserved on an open Work Order.
You must bring the available stock to zero (via Work Orders, Cycle Counts, or Stock Operations) before deletion is allowed.
danger: Permanent action Once deleted, the part profile cannot be used on future Work Orders or new inventory records. Ensure the item is truly obsolete.
Step 1 – Open the Parts Directory
Section titled “Step 1 – Open the Parts Directory”- From the main sidebar, expand Parts & Supplies.
- Click List.
Locate the part you wish to remove.
Step 2 – Open the Action Menu
Section titled “Step 2 – Open the Action Menu”- In the row for the target part, click the More (⋯) icon in the far‑right column.
- From the dropdown, select Delete (highlighted in red with a trash‑can icon).
If inventory dependencies still exist, UniCMMS displays an error and blocks the action.
Step 3 – Confirm Deletion
Section titled “Step 3 – Confirm Deletion”If no blocking dependencies are found:
- A confirmation prompt appears.
- Carefully verify the Part Name and Part Number.
- Confirm the deletion.
The part record is removed from the master inventory registry and no longer available for new operational use.
